  • An American History Essay Contest is open for students in grades 5–8.

  • The American History Video Contest for those in grades 9–12 is offered.

  • Cambridge Mayor Orr issues a proclamation to commemorate American Indian Month, highlighting the significance of indigenous contributions.

  • Efforts are underway to identify and designate the burial sites of Revolutionary War Patriots in local cemeteries.

Patriotism

To support our mission of patriotism, our chapter sponsors a Tattered Flag program. We provide water to the Cambridge Veterans Administration Clinic, send letters, gift cards, and packages with personal items to honor those serving in the military. Additionally, we participate in Wreaths Across America and the indexing Patriot Records Project.

Education

To champion our educational mission, our chapter actively engages in many initiatives.

Scholarship awards are distributed through the Good Citizens program, open to all senior class students.

We identify and support teachers and children following the Community Classroom guidelines, and we provide funding for a specific project.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, we participate in the book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they start school.

During Constitution Week, information packets are distributed to all local schools, along with a Constitution Poster Contest, and Mayor Orr issues a Proclamation celebrating Constitution Month.

The local public library display cases are used to promote patriotic and commemorative events supported by NSDAR. Books are donated to the NSDAR Library and to the local Friends of the Library book sale.

We support the Kate Duncan DAR School.

Members participate in the National Day of Prayer. These efforts collectively promote good citizenship by advocating education.
